Pseudo-Ventricular Septal Defect

Left ventricular outflow tract of aortic root at site of pseudo-VSD

Normal 4-chamber view. No evidence of VSD

The middle image demonstrates the origin of the aortic outflow tract. In the appropriate plane this may simulate a VSD. Minor transducer manipulation will demonstrate both the left ventricular outflow tract as well as the normal ventricular septum in the four-chamber view.
